The 2011–12 Inter-Provincial Twenty20 will be the fourth season of the official Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Sri Lanka. Six teams in total, five representing four provinces of Sri Lanka and a Sri Lanka Cricket Combined XI team will be participating in the competition.

The first semifinal is scheduled to be played between Basnahira and Wayamba at the R.Premadasa ICS at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday (30). Ruhuna will meet Kandurata at 2.30 p.m. in the second semifinal on the same day.

Sri Lanka's inaugural Twenty20 premier league, which has been hit by a lack of big names, began on Thursday in front of sparse crowds with the first game decided by a bowl-out due to overnight showers.

In order to give them the adequate rest before the Test and ODI series against Australia, five senior national cricketers have been excused for skipping the Inter Provincial T20 cricket tournament. The tournament is to get underway from July 21.

The forth season of the Inter-Provincial Twenty20 was renamed the Sri Lankan T20 Premier League. The teams were renamed along with the inclusion of two extra provinces. The Sri Lankan T20 Premier League will allow international players to play.

Wayamba will meet Basnahira on July 21 to start off the Sri Lanka Inter-Provincial T20 cricket tournament which has replaced the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL). The five team competition will consist of 12 matches played over 10 days.
